Nightfall is an expansion to the 1st edition of Parks. It adds new parks to the game, often with slightly more complex game mechanics than in the core game. For example, you can gain resources by getting a park instead of just spending them. It’s most distinctive addition are the camps along the hiking trail. When you visit a camp location, you can choose to activate either the location’s normal function, or use it as a camp and choose one of the camp tiles instead. They tend to offer more complex game mechanical options.
For us, perhaps because we’d already played the core game once and thus learned it, Nightfall represented a significant change in the general complexity of the game. It felt much more strategic, and we spent more time thinking about our moves and pondering various strategies.
Visually the expansion is beautiful the same way as the core game is, drawing on the wonders of the night sky.
