Art book: Paul D. Miller: The Book of Ice (Mark Batty Publisher, 2011)
Paul D. Miller, also known as DJ Spooky, created a multimedia performance piece called Terra Nova: Sinfonia Antarctica in 2009. This book is a part of that project. It’s kind of a documentation book or an artbook, a scrapbook of graphics and images.
The [...]

Nordic Larp is a photobook about the Nordic larp scene and the best games it has to offer. It’ll be released on the 22nd of December, 2010. I wrote for it an article about Luminescence, a game I did with Mike Pohjola.
Here’s info about the release parties:
Nordic Larp hit the printers a few weeks ago. [...]

The participatory installation Portaikko (The Staircase), by Juhana Pettersson (design) and Katri Lassila (photography), was featured at the Human Culture festival last weekend in Imatra, on the 21st and 22nd of August.
The installation is about the loneliness of the fetishist. The spectator assumes the role of someone with a sexual fetish for fences, on his [...]

Portaikko
Juhana Pettersson - Katri Lassila
Osallistuva installaatio fetisistin yksinäisyydestä. Kuinka monta ihmistä maailmassa jakaa viehtymyksesi aitoihin?
Portaikko on tehty Imatralla järjestettävää Human Culture -osallistuvan taiteen festivaalia varten.

Yksi on mies, toinen on nainen. Tärkeintä on kyky improvisoida yksinkertaisissa sosiaalisissa tilanteissa. Homman pitäisi sujua niin roolipelaajalta kuin näyttelijältäkin. Pelattavana on yksi noin 15 minuutin kohtaus, [...]

Imatralainen-lehti raportoi Human Culture -taidefestivaalin ohjelmistosta. Tässä mua koskevat osuudet:
Messias:
Jokaisella pelaajalla on hetkensä jumalan valittuna. Jerusalem 30-33 jkr.
Jokainen [...]

Check out the video of the Nordic Larp Talks event in Stockholm recently. It’s almost two hours, but well worth your time if you’re interested in larp. It features many of the luminaries of the Nordic larp scene, such as Jaakko Stenros, Markus Montola, Johanna Koljonen, Emma Wieslander, Peter Munthe-Kaas and Martin Ericksson.

This is a circus in a suburb of Paris this January. It huddled in the shadow of concrete apartment blocks, a long, treacherous walk from the obscure train station. Note the caravan in the darkness on the right. I don’t envy the circus people who live there in the cold.
Inside was one of the best [...]
